Facebook has been hinting at the ability to purchase products 🛍️ directly from their social platforms for well over a year now. ⁣

It seems like COVID-19 and the push for e-commerce 💻 capability gave them the needed incentive to make it happen! ⁣

“Shops” has been released for Facebook and Instagram. 👏 This will make it easy for businesses to set up an online store for customers to access directly on both Facebook and Instagram.⁣

Businesses will be able to choose the products 📦 they want to feature from their product catalogue and then customize the look and feel of their storefront with colours and a cover image. ⁣

Facebook is working with Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, and several other platforms to create a shop feed integration so users can easily populate products. 👍⁣

A phased roll-out of shops is scheduled to begin for all businesses globally on Facebook and Instagram Shopping. There is no word on when particular regions 🌏 will be able to use it at this time. ⁣

It will be interesting to see what kind of effect that direct social shopping has on conversion rates and other metrics for e-tailers and online stores in the near future! 🙌⁣
